Solitude ...

A professional couple had a remote retreat in mind - a place in the high desert area of southern Utah for refuge and solitude. A calming escape from the everyday cares of the city.
While not an ADU, the design requirements were very similar in nature and needs.

• Seamless indoor-outdoor living with a lap pool and spa.
• A comfortable full bedroom suite for two, with a flexible pool cabana that can serve as guest quarters.
• A good sized kitchen with dining table, with a cozy living area with a fireplace. A powder room, stacked washer and dryer, and tankless water heater and filtration system.
• Covered patio space and carport.
• A simple to build system with Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) roof and exterior walls, rainwater harvesting, gray water landscape reuse, passive solar design, an off-grid active solar array to power their entire needs, with pre-heating and pre-cooling through earth-tube temperature moderation and efficient ductless mini-splits.

All in a main casita at around 800 square feet, with a 200 square foot lounging cabana which houses a changing room and pool equipment.
